The world of technology is advancing at lightning speed; and it's no longer a secret how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Web3 continues to reshape the way we interact with the world.
Many of us would probably have already known about AI and Web3 by now, but how many of us know enough to act on it?
How do we stay relevant in times of change?
Joined by seven AI and Web3 experts and close to a hundred participants, we held a specialized workshop on AI and Web3, supported by (“WSG”) Workforce Singapore, to bring to light the power of new technologies, and insights on its vast opportunities. The full-day workshop delivered insights to show how we can harness the potential of AI and Web3, complete with advice and tips from industry professionals. If there's anything you should take away from this, it is these five key lessons:
Imagine something that once took 6 hours to create, that can now be produced within 30 minutes. If that isn't amazing, we don't know what is.
More output, less time, less effort. We all know that AI has the ability to churn out multitudes of content in a split second, making our work more efficient and cost-effective than ever before.
A creative may argue that with this ability, AI would essentially be 'taking away' their jobs - but we say that this simply just creates more freedom to experiment, and innovate. With the power of AI supporting our daily work, we free up our capacity to explore and create new frontiers in design, music, and other art forms. The possibilities are endless, all you have to do is embrace it!
"Whether or not we recognise it, technology has already been intertwined in our lives." - Dr Loretta Chen, CEO of Smobler
Every one of us (or the majority of us) owns a smartphone, and we use applications to book a cab to our destination. Our social media and e-commerce platforms utilize AI algorithms to personalize the content we consume and our buying experience.
We spend so much time on our screens, and are in touch with technology every single day- sometimes without even realizing their presence.
It's easy to see that AI is rapidly becoming an integral part of technology, but the question remains: Will AI become an everyday technology, and fully integrate itself into our lives? Some might say that we're already there.
Right now, there are still many questions surrounding the use of AI and its capabilities, but there's one thing we can be sure of: it's not a matter of 'if', but a matter of 'when'. It's only a matter of time.
We mentioned earlier that these technological advancements simply enhance our capabilities, not replace it. While machine learning is rapidly growing each day, its capabilities are still in its infancy.
AI can help us get the bulk of our work done, but human input is still the key factor to quality.
We as humans are exceptional at connecting the dots, and machines are not. If there's one thing that robots lack, it is human creativity and judgment. And it is crucial to remember that.
You wouldn't need to worry about any AI tool taking over your job, but you should worry about another human being learning any AI tool to take over your job.
Use AI as a tool to enhance your ideas and work, not as a replacement for their creativity. Ultimately, you, as the human element, is what makes a project unique and special.
The takeaway? Always prioritize up-skilling, or re-skilling.
AI and Web3 represents more than just an advancement in technology. It signifies a profound cultural shift, redefining the way we perceive and interact with the digital world.
It's about reshaping the way we create, consume, and experience different art forms.
Most of the generation today, or in fact, 75% of our Gen Z population do not want to be consumers, but creators.
With AI and Web3, individuals and communities can be empowered to build a brand of their own, and take that with them wherever they go.
Take Sandbox as an example. Gaming has been around for decades, but never before as a monetisation platform for creators. With Sandbox, creatives are given the opportunity to develop and create their own worlds, share their work, and earn from it.
We see a tremendous opportunity in platforms like Sandbox to revolutionize the way creatives can engage with their audience, unlocking new avenues for collaboration, innovation, and success.
Think about this: Would you bother cleaning up a rented car, and sending it in for a wash, if you have to return it at the end of the day?
Having ownership of something drives personal responsibility, which in turn, drives growth. The theory is that this sense of ownership motivates us to create opportunities for ourselves, develop and build our own world, because it is ours to keep.
Web3 creates opportunities for us creatives to have ownership in the digital space, enabling us to take control of our work and directly monetise it. Virtual worlds have the power to shape tomorrow's identity, allowing you to have an alternative self, separate from who you are in the real world- one that frees you from judgment via your characteristics.
By embracing this new technology and the possibilities it brings, we can build our own ecosystems, something that was previously thought impossible.
It is evident that the integration of AI and Web3 will revolutionize the future of creativity in ways that are yet to be fully comprehended, and it is imperative for us as creatives, to embrace this transformative shift and to start acting on its capabilities, no matter how small a step we take.
A bright future awaits the creative industry, and there's no better time to seize the potential of this technological revolution.
